I've inserted the following document in mongoDB

{ "_id" : ObjectId("5be347025dba9f208cc0e03f"),
"subject" : "test_entry_1",
"date" : "Nov11",
"address" : [
{ "country" : "canada",
"province" : "ontario",
"city" : "toronto"
},
{ "country" : "united states",
"states" : "florida",
"city" : "tampa"

} ] }

When I tried to use update the document with

    Bson filter = Filters.eq("subject", doc2.get("subject"));
Bson update = new Document("$set",
doc1.append("address.city", "unknown")) ;
coll.updateOne(filter, update);`

I'm getting the following error:

Exception in thread "main" com.mongodb.MongoWriteException: Updating the >path 'address.city' would create a conflict at 'address'

I tried on the mongo shell with the command:

db.debug.update({}, {$set: {"address.$.city": "unknown"}})

The record was updated no problem.

Any idea on what is causing the error in the java code? As for reference, I am using mongodb-drive 3.8.2 and mongo-java-driver 3.6.1
