Saved Search to generate Customer balance as at a certain date

Question for the saved search experts.
I have a requirement (which I won't explain) where I need a saved search which provides an accurate Customer balance as at a filtered date.
ie. it should look at ALL customer transactions, and in a single amount column show the correct balance.
The scenario would be a date filter 1/1/1990 - ???date, with a "opening balance' column as of the end date.
The search must also originate from a Customer search, not a transaction search for reasons I won't go into here.
Needs to factor in
- Invoices
- Credit Memos (including unapplied amounts)
- Payments (including unapplied amounts)
- Payment Discounts taken
- Journals (including unapplied amounts)
Anyone done something like this before?
Essentially, I need to duplicate NetSuite's Internal search to generate statement balances, but with a changeable "as-of" date.
