I have a paid app on both iOS and macOS App Stores.
Since 2 days, I see an unusual number of new users from China. I went from 2-3 new Chinese users per days to 20-40 for both the iOS and macOS app. Yesterday my stats (Flurry & my own metrics) indicated that there were 60 new users (mostly from China). Until then, metrics from Flurry & mines matched with Sales and trends reports from App Store Connect. But since days, they are totally disconnected. Actually, the App Store metrics seems regular (2-3 new users from China/days). Today, there are still a lot a new users from China. So I was considering theses theories :
Probable : my apps got hacked (remember they are paid apps) since some users from China only download (purchase?) it and don't use it. What makes me doubt this theory is that both the iOS and macOS version have seen a spike in Chinese users at the same time meaning that they would have been cracked the same day.
Someone did a review of my apps and more users purchased it. But then why wouldn't I see these purchases on App Store Connect ? And I can't find any review on Google.
App Store Connect metrics are delayed for some reasons. But again some users haven't used the app after purchasing it.
May be these downloads come from Apple Volume Purchase program and I will see them in App Store Connect later ?
Very not unlikely : someone downloaded the apps a lot of times. But my metrics indicate that all the users are unique (it's based on the iCloud identifier).
What do you think ? Have you faced the same issue someday ?
Thank you
