Using CMake to add or change particular XML nodes in *.vcxproj

0

I was wondering whether CMake allows adding or changing XML nodes inside generated visual c++ studio project (*.vcxproj) files by maybe directly specifying xml-node name and path in the hierarchy, as opposed to passing certain CMake predefined compilations options. For instance, generated project file may have the following structure:

<Project ... >
<ItemGroup... > ... </ItemGroup... >
<ItemDefinitionGroup ...>
<ClCompile>
<AdditionalIncludeDirectories>...</AdditionalIncludeDirectories>
...
<Optimization>Disabled</Optimization>
...
</ClCompile>
</ItemDefinitionGroup>
</Project>

I would like to add a custom xml-node inside <ClCompile> ... <ClCompile>, so the result may look like this:

<Project ... >
<ItemGroup... > ... </ItemGroup... >
<ItemDefinitionGroup ...>
<ClCompile>
<AdditionalIncludeDirectories>...</AdditionalIncludeDirectories>
...
<Optimization>Disabled</Optimization>
<CustomNode>...</CustomNode>
...
</ClCompile>
</ItemDefinitionGroup>
</Project>

Is there a way to do this? I’m using CMake 3.13.0-rc2 and VS2017 Community.
