Selenium IDE: Comparing two variables
I'm using the Selenium IDE on chrome (version 3.4.4)
I want to test if clicking a button adds a new row to a table.
I thought I'd just:
- count the rows of the table before clicking (store the number in a variable)
- clicking the button
- count the rows of the table again and store this number in a different variable
- Check if the second variable is one higher than the first
How do I do this?
If there are better solutions to this problem I'll be happy to hear them.

Selenium IDE: Comparing two variables
Your solution sounds good. For comparing the variables, use if:
if | ${count1} > ${count2}
echo | button worked!
else
ThrowError | Houston, we have a problem
endIf
Counting the lines in the table is actually the more tricky part. To count the table rows you can use storeXPathCount or, in Kantu's Selenium IDE, you can use sourceSearch for this.
But if count1 is, for example, lower than count2 than the if wouldn't be true. How do I make the test fail in that case?

In Kantu I use ThrowError for this. => I updated my answer with an "...else ThrowError" statement.
