ASP.NET Core 2.1 Application doesn't read shared cookie in certain scenario

0

I have 2 Applications

  • Application A

  • Application B

I'm encountering this problem:

  1. Start Application A and B,

  2. Login to Application B and then refresh Application A

  3. Application A remains on the login page

  4. Try to login to Application A, get redirected to login page(wrong)
    even though the debugger shows that its successful

I am able to login if I do this:

  1. Start Application A and B

  2. Login to Application A then refresh Application B's screen

  3. Application B is redirected to home page (correct)

In the first scenario, I noticed that even though I refreshed the Application A page, the shared cookie did not appear in the debugger tools
In the second scenario, the shared cookie appears when I refresh the page.

This is my configuration used in both startups

services.Configure<CookiePolicyOptions>(options =>
{
// This lambda determines whether user consent for non-essential cookies is needed for a given request.
options.CheckConsentNeeded = context => false;
options.MinimumSameSitePolicy = SameSiteMode.None;
});

services.Configure<IdentityOptions>(options =>
{
options.Password.RequireDigit = false;
options.Password.RequireLowercase = false;
options.Password.RequireNonAlphanumeric = true;
options.Password.RequireUppercase = true;
options.Password.RequiredLength = 6;
options.User.AllowedUserNameCharacters =
"abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyzABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ0123456789-._@+";
options.User.RequireUniqueEmail = false;
options.SignIn.RequireConfirmedEmail = false;
options.SignIn.RequireConfirmedPhoneNumber = false;
});

services.AddDataProtection()
.PersistKeysToFileSystem(KeyRingConfigurationManager.GetBasePath())
.SetApplicationName("Unity");

services.ConfigureApplicationCookie(options =>
{
// Cookie settings
options.Cookie.Name = ".Unity.Shared";
options.Cookie.SameSite = SameSiteMode.Lax;
options.Cookie.SecurePolicy = CookieSecurePolicy.SameAsRequest;
options.Cookie.Path = "/";
options.Cookie.Domain = "localhost";
options.Cookie.HttpOnly = true;
options.ExpireTimeSpan = TimeSpan.FromMinutes(5);

options.LoginPath = "/Identity/Account/Login";
options.AccessDeniedPath = "/Account/AccessDenied";
options.SlidingExpiration = true;
});
