Clayton County Public Schools (CCPS) is a public school district located in Jonesboro, Georgia, U.S. With over 55,000 students, CCPS is the fifth largest school district in Georgia and is ranked among the 100 largest school systems in the U.S.


Fully accredited through AdvancED- Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Council on Accreditation and School Improvement (SACS), Clayton County Public Schools consists of 38 elementary, 15 middle, and 11 high schools along with various other programs throughout the district.


CCPS offers a variety learning options such as traditional schools, fine arts magnet schools and/or programs, Career, Technical, and Agricultural Education (CTAE) Pathways, online courses, and Gifted Education programs.


This school district is highly diversified with 90 different ethnicities and countries represented. Seventy-two (72) different languages are spoken, with the largest two foreign languages being Spanish and Vietnamese. As of the 2016-2017 school year, over 12,000 students speak a language other than English and over 6,000 are counted as English language learners.

Superintendent


Dr. Morcease J. Beasley was elected by the Clayton County Board of Education on May 8, 2017 to serve as Superintendent of Clayton County Public Schools. Prior to his appointment, Dr. Beasley served as Clayton County Public Schools (CCPS) Chief School Improvement Officer. As Superintendent, Dr. Beasley leads one of the top 100 largest school districts in the nation and the fifth largest school system in the state of Georgia with almost 55,000 diverse students, 7,300 employees, and 65 learning sites and educational programs.


Nationally known as an innovative leader and instructor, Dr. Beasley has over 20 years of dedicated service toward the instructional practices and the education of young people. Throughout his career, he has held numerous positions at every level of public school education beginning as a high school Mathematics teacher; assistant principal; high school principal; Executive Director for Curriculum, Instruction, Professional Learning and Federal Programs. He also held the position as Deputy Superintendent for Teaching and Learning; Deputy Superintendent for Curriculum, Instruction and School Leadership. Dr. Beasley is considered a renowned transformational educator and instructional leader with proven success in both large urban and suburban school districts.


Through a strong will for educational excellence and effective leadership, Dr. Beasley is recognized for developing and implementing strategies that consistently improve student academic achievement, increase graduation rates and employee morale, while strengthening family engagement and community support of schools.


As a result of his commitment to the academic advancement of children and instructional leadership, Dr. Beasley has received notable accolades and multiple recognitions by numerous organizations. Most recently, he was selected as one of 100 recipients of Samford University’s Centennial Life-Long Learning Award. Additionally, he was selected as DeKalb’s Administrator of the Year by the DeKalb School Counselors Association and is a two time recipient of the distinguished Golden Apple Outstanding Administrator Award by Samford University.


Dr. Beasley holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics from the University of Montevallo in Montevallo, Alabama and a Master of Science degree in Mathematics Education from Samford University located in Birmingham, Alabama. In addition, he holds an Educational Specialist as well as a Doctorate degree in Education with an emphases on Educational Leadership from Samford University. Dr. Beasley has also completed Harvard University’s Public Educational Leadership Program.


In addition to dedicating much of his life as a professional educator, Dr. Beasley has a devout love for his family and ministry. He enjoys traveling, swimming, reading, writing, horseback riding, cooking and entertaining family and friends. Dr. Beasley also has an adoration for the arts and politics and likes to attend sporting events.
