Send Hotmail Live email with Excel VBA

0

I would to send an email with VBA. My provider is: Hotmail Live. In the mail settings the SMTP server name is: smtp.office365.com with the port: 587.

Sub SendEmailLive()

Dim mail As New Message

Dim Config As Configuration
Set Config = mail.Configuration

Config(cdoSendUsingMethod) = cdoSendUsingPort
Config(cdoSMTPServer) = "smtp.office365.com"
Config(cdoSMTPServerPort) = 587
Config(cdoSMTPAuthenticate) = cdoBasic
Config(cdoSMTPUseSSL) = True
Config(cdoSendUserName) = "mymail@live.it"
Config(cdoSendPassword) = "mailpassword"
Config.Fields.Update

mail.Configuration = Config

mail.To = "to_mail@gmail.com"
mail.From = "mymail@live.it"
mail.Subject = "Mail test"
mail.HTMLBody = "This is a text"

mail.Send
MsgBox "Sent"

End Sub

The error is: The transport failed to connect to the server

And the debug stops on mail.Send

  • I tried to use localhost as a server but it returns the same error

  • Not sure if it make a difference but try Config.Fields.Item(cdo…) = instead of Config(cdo…) =. And make sure that there are no strange characters in your password that VBA cannot use properly.

  • Unfortunately I tested the two suggestions but neither resolves

  • Code looks fine and I don't think this is a programming issue since you get an error message that connection to the server failed. This should be an issue with the server parameters or user credentials. Check again if your user login credentials are correct. Check if your or your company's firewall blocks your traffic.
