Data type conversion issues in Javafx table view
I am using Javafx table view to display the data and also It's editable table.
Data loading to the table through Map, this is how I am loading the table,
ObservableList<Map> configData = FXCollections.observableArrayList();
while(keys.hasNext()){
Map<String, Object> dataRow = new LinkedHashMap<>();
dataRow.put(Column1MapKey, key);
dataRow.put(Column2MapKey, "somevalue";
}
displayTable.setItems(configData);
Here, the values are combined datatype example, some values are String, Number, Boolean.
My table is editable one, after I editing the data values are getting changed to String.
For example first row, first column is number at the time of table loading.
After editing the example entering 55 it's converting to String "55". Below is the code for table editing, I can understand, using StringCoverter so the values are getting converted. Is it possible to get the data without changing datatype. Assume that edit value never change the datatype example if it's number then editing data also would be number.
Callback<TableColumn<Map, Object>, TableCell<Map, Object>> cellFactoryForMap = (TableColumn<Map, Object> p) ->
new TextFieldTableCell(new StringConverter() {
@Override
public String toString(Object t) {
return t.toString();
}
@Override
public Object fromString(String string) {
return string;
}
});
secondNameCol.setOnEditCommit(
new EventHandler<CellEditEvent<Map, Object>>() {
@Override
public void handle(CellEditEvent<Map, Object> t) {
t.getTableView().getItems().get(t.getTablePosition().getRow()).put(Column2MapKey, t.getNewValue());
}
}
);
secondNameCol.setCellFactory(cellFactoryForMap);
