How to set timeout for SocketRocket 'send:' method?

I want to set timeout for SoccketRocket, so I did this:
self.webSocket = [[SRWebSocket alloc] initWithURLRequest:[NSURLRequest requestWithURL:[NSURL URLWithString:[NSString stringWithFormat:@"http://%@:%@",ip, port]] cachePolicy:NSURLRequestUseProtocolCachePolicy timeoutInterval:8]];
self.webSocket.delegate = self;
[self.webSocket open];
I want to know does this timeout setting work for when I call 'send:' method but there is no response, if it works, where can I get timeout message, if it no, how can I know 'send:' is timeout without response and catch it.
