Laravel User Authentication for Multiple Roles

I have a role table having three roles: admin, teacher, student. I've added a column in the Laravel users table: role_id and built the relationship between them. Now I am using the Laravel auth system to authenticate these three types of users. The problem is that if an admin logs in, he can also access the student and teacher dashboards.

Similarly, the teacher can access the admin dashboard after authentication. I want it so that if an admin logs in, he can only access his dashboard and the same with teacher and student.

What's the best way to implement this solution?

  • You can use a package github.com/spatie/laravel-permission for RBAC related tasks
