Google Maps Static API - real life size of square

I am new to the geospatial visualisations, so excuse my false terminology.

I am using the Google Maps Static Api to request a satellite image.

However, I am not sure about the zoom level and would like to orient myself on the displayed real life surface area, e.g. do I see a 1km x 1km image or 500m x 500m.

I know from the Google Street View Api, that it comes with a meta file, containing all kinds of image information. However, here this does not seem the case and I don't have a measure in the image.

Is there a way to determine the size of the image in real life surface area displayed?

Thank you
