Page transition won't load children until complete

0

I have a page I am transitioning on and off the screen like so

position: fixed;
top: 0px;
right: 0px;
bottom: 0px;
left: 0px;
transition: transform 500ms ease;
transform: translateY(${isOpen ? "0vh" : "100vh"});
z-index: 200;

However, on mobile safari the contents are not rendered until after the transition has completed. This issue does not occur in mobile Chrome or Desktop Safari

enter image description here

What is causing the content to not render until after the transition is complete? What steps can I take to ensure that they are rendered before the transition begins?

EDIT:

If I change the child container to position: fixed the render problem resolves but I am no longer able to scroll
