I have a simple code of a player in html5. I want this player to start playing a video at a specific time of the day, for example at 2:30 p.m. ET Is it possible? Thanks.

Yes, it's possible. Keep in mind that playback usually requires some sort of user interaction at some point.

You have to wait until the browser knows the duration of the video before you can seek to a particular time. So, I think you want to wait for the 'loadedmetadata' event something like this:
document.getElementById('vid1').addEventListener('loadedmetadata', function() {
this.currentTime = 50;
}, false);
