Eloquent Lumen firstOrNew

i have query like this using laravel eloquent firstOrNew but the problem is my dataType on last_request is timestamp and i wanted to convert to date, here is my code.
OTP::firstOrNew(
[
'phone' => $phone,
'category' => 'verify',
'last_request' => date('Y-m-d'),
],
[
'total' => 1
]
);
