          you can achieve this using a layout-list object

          <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
          <layer-list xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android">
          <item>
          <shape>
          <padding android:top="3dp"
          android:right="3dp"
          android:bottom="3dp"
          android:left="3dp"
          />
          <solid android:color="#05767676" />
          </shape>
          </item>
          <item>
          <shape>
          <solid android:color="#f1f3f7" />
          <corners android:radius="3dp" />
          </shape>
          </item>
          </layer-list>

          add the background attribute to the Linearlayout and the value of the attribute will be @drawable/shadow

          if you need only top shadow then remove the android:right, android:bottom and android:left attributes and padding tag should be like

            use elevation property in your layout:

            android:elevation="3dp"

            • Please include more context if possible. Perhaps screenshot of LinearLayout with shadow helps.
